Female
Leaders: Creating Influence and Power:
What is the significance of being a "Female
Leader?" Is female leadership different from male leadership?
How can you bring yourself more authentically to work and
create greater influence and power for your vision and ideals?
Female performance is often discounted because "leadership
qualities" align more closely with masculine than feminine
attributes. Gender schemas, behavior we unconsciously
associate with being male or female, are held by both
men and women. When these schemas conflict with
those we hold for effective leaders, we misjudge and are misperceived.
What does it mean to be a woman leader? How do we lead from
our ideals and values and not according to another’s
prescription? These are the questions we must ask to realize
our true worth and influence.
In this workshop, we will explore the gender
schemas we hold and just how differently women and men often
approach leadership. We will discover which schemas limit
our ability to influence and be seen as powerful.
We will learn to
• Recognize the gender schemas
we hold
• Challenge those schemas that limit our leadership
potential
• Create greater influence through speech, language,
and non-verbal skills
• Thrive in both hierarchical and relational power
structures
• Use e-mail strategically and professionally
• Optimize our influence and power
This workshop is for women
only. Whether you have been in a leadership role
for more than a decade or less than a year, this workshop
raises awareness and teaches practical skills to become more
influential and powerful.
Ms. Koenig partners with Linda Garverick,
Ph.D. for the workshop. Dr. Garverick is a Gestalt-trained
process facilitator, management consultant, and executive
coach. She works with senior-level executives to improve business
and management practice, as well as organizational effectiveness.
